Nelson and Martinez rescue Arsenal

Emi Martinez extraordinary performance rescued Arsenal from going behind several times in the first half of the match against Leeds United. Arsenal were clueless in the first half as Marcelo Biesla's men bossed it like how Arsenal managed Manchester United last week.

Patrick Bamford of Leeds United was unlucky not to get on the score-sheet as he hit the cross bar in the opening minutes of the match. Alioski is the other person who would be disappointed not to win after his pre-match talk about the recent struggles of Arsenal.

Biesla managed to outdo Arteta in the first half but it was the former gunners captain who had the final laugh after Nelson's goal put Arsenal ahead.

Arteta fielded Arsenal in 3-4-1-2 formation due to which the players were struggling to adapt to the formation in the first half. Sokratis was the player who had to do a lot of work defensively for the Gunners in the first half. Holding and Luiz did not look sharp as they were giving away the ball to opposition several times losing the possession.

Kolasinac was fantastic and looks fresh under Arteta rediscovering his form. He played as a left-wing back and looked sharp when he has the ball. Nelson played as a right-wing back for the first half of the game but could not contribute much in that role.

Granit Xhaka and Guendouzi started in the midfield position. Xhaka struggled a bit but still managed to contain Leeds United whereas Guendouzi was excellent proving again that Arsenal has made a signed a talented midfielder.

Mesut Ozil, Pepe and Lacazette started the game as the forwards. Auba was rested due to illness. Ozil could not do much in the first half of the game just as Pepe and Lacazatte.

Arteta had to wait to provide a half time talk to revitalize the squad which resulted in the Nelson's goal in the 55th minute of the match. Leeds United were stunned and lost the belief they had in the first half. Arsenal took advantage of this and were looking to score more.

Martinelli was introduced in the place of Nelson and Joe Willock in the place of Mesut Ozil. Ozil received a standing ovation from fans with his recent performances deserving one.

Past few weeks has been fantastic for Arsenal fans with the team winning their last two matches with decent performances. Auba and Xhaka have also promised the fans that they will be staying with the Gunners mentioning Arteta as the prime reason for their stay. With the transfer market opened, Arsenal must now look for defensive recruitment to strengthen the squad.

Let's meet on our next match versus Crystal Palace on 11th of January.

Bye guys...
